Overview
MANGROVE CREEKS AND LIMESTONE CAVES
Baratang’s primary tourist attractions are the limestone cave formations at Nayadera and the extensive mangrove-covered streams. The island is notable for its limestones, which form fascinating structures and strata above and below the surface of the ground. At the Nilambur jetty, you can hire a boat that will transport you through the narrow, mangrove-lined waterway that makes the journey more adventurous. The sight is breath-taking and looks adventurous.
You’ll have to walk down for about 1.2 kilometres from the wooden dock at Nayadera to see this natural wonder. Here, enormous formations hang from the ceilings of caverns, covering their walls. Constant water dropping from the roof causes the stalactites and stalagmites to glisten and glitter. Visitors are requested to preserve these natural treasures and not litter and signing their names on the formations.
